Claudia Öllinger (certified Austria Guide) guides you through the village with stories and history.
With just a few steps in the centre of Mattsee, we mentally travel back in the history of the earth and sketch the life of the founder of the monastery, Tassilo, and the Bavarians around the year 800, when the first cathedral was built of stone in Salzburg. We imagine medieval life, for example, in the cloister of the Abbey and on the Schlossberg, then we move into the Baroque era with famous buildings and personalities. We approach the period of Romanticism with the developing gentle tourism - Mattsee as a summer resort destination with all kinds of stories is discovered in the process.
