For 135 years, we at WOERLE have been combining a love of cheese with values that have been preserved over generations. It is the story of a vision that needs courage, passion and respect to become reality, now as then. In 1889, Johan Baptist Woerle and his wife Marie laid the foundation stone in Salzburg's Flachgau region for a company that today stands for quality worldwide. Their first Emmentaler recipe became the symbol of cheese craftsmanship for the beginning of our success story, which is still alive today. 

WOERLE cheese is an ambassador of enjoyment. Made from the best hay milk, our cheese specialities combine the flavours of the meadows of the Salzburger Flachgau. Our cheese variety ranges from mild, nutty Emmentaler and flavoursome mountain cheese to the innovative organic line in bright pink. Every bite is a promise of maximum enjoyment and outstanding quality - the result of over 135 years of cheese expertise.

From Johan Baptist to Gerrit Woerle, five generations have left their own mark. But the values have always remained Passion, courage, trust and respect the common thread. They give us the strength to preserve traditions and the courage to dare to try new things - be it through the introduction of innovative processes, the further development of the Henndorf site with the investment in a new natural cheese dairy in 2021 or the introduction of a 360° sustainability strategy that secures the company in the long term. WOERLE produces cheese specialities that bring the taste of Salzburger Flachgau to the region and to 70 countries around the world. Our heart remains in Henndorf, where we train young talent and were honoured as Salzburg's best training company in 2023. These successes are not only a reason for us to celebrate, but also a promise to pass on our knowledge and values to the next generation.

For WOERLE, sustainability is not an option, but a commitment. Our hay-milk meadows provide a habitat for countless animals and plants, while our circular economy stands for the careful use of resources. With over 35 awards for sustainability and our commitment to an intact natural environment, we show that entrepreneurship, progress and respect for the environment can go hand in hand. Because we know that: The best milk can only be produced in an intact natural environment. And only the best milk can produce cheese that delights people all over the world.
